The Department of Social Psychology at Tilburg University (The Netherlands) is a vibrant group of Social, Economic, and Organizational psychologists. Our department fosters an intellectually stimulating and
productive environment, advancing knowledge on social decision making and contributing to the effective practices of organizations and society. Our research receives high recognition, both nationally and internationally, and our faculty participates in the interdisciplinary research institute TIBER (Tilburg Institute for Behavioral Economics Research). The department makes use of diverse and state-of–the-art research facilities (multi-use lab spaces, online data collection, mobile computing, psycho-physiological and neurocognitive equipment) and has access to a dedicated research support staff (lab assistants, programming and technical support).

Job Description and Qualifications
The department’s research program centers on Social Decision Making: Department members seek to understand how social, economic and organizational settings shape individual and interdependent decisions. The department also offers courses in the Dutch Bachelor of Psychology degree program, the International Bachelor of Psychology, the Masters’ degree in Social Psychology, and the research Masters degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. These include specific majors in Social Psychology, Economic Psychology, and Work & Organizational Psychology. The successful candidate will have affinity with basic research that advances social decision making in organizational contexts. We are searching for a candidate who is interested in topics such as team work, group decision making, managerial decision making, negotiation, social stressors, creativity, leadership, and diversity. However, other topics on social decision making in organizational contexts will be considered. Preferably, the candidate must have expertise in field studies, experimental research and labrelated research methodologies (physiological or other measurements) and maintain excellent contacts with practitioners in the field. Our ideal candidate will contribute to the department’s collaborative atmosphere, has an open and transparent communication style, respects academic freedom, and seeks to sustain our shared commitment to provide an excellent education for our students.
Duties
- Research (ca. 40%): We expect academic leadership and are looking for candidates who have a
proven track record in (a) establishing connections with (inter)national stakeholders in the field, (b)
performing lab and field research, (c) obtaining (inter)national grants,
- Teaching (ca. 40%): We expect educational leadership at the BSc and the MSc level and are looking
for candidates who are willing to teach a variety of (English language) courses at both the Bachelors’
and Masters’ level, including the two-year Research Master program.
- Service (ca. 20%): We are looking for team players who will contribute to the management of the
department as well as to the management of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Formal roles such as department head, director of education, and director of research rotate among
the senior staff of the department.
Terms of Employment

Appointment will take place in accordance with the collective labor agreement of the Dutch universities in the UFO-profile of Professor. The employment contract will be for an indefinite period.
