Objective of the job
The post-doctoral researcher will – in close collaboration with the new chair and the steering group of the strategic pillar – be responsible for further development of the new field of organisational dynamics in the digital society. This will involve both research related to the new chair as well as administrative tasks. A main research task concerns the development and coordination of a research panel. This panel should include workers with different employment status: public and private sector employees, solo self-employed, hybrid workers, and multiple job holders. This interdisciplinary ESSB panel will be used to study the impact of new organizational forms. The panel will also be made available to students in the new master program that will be connected to the new chair. An additional task concerns a coordinating role within the new knowledge network (Kenniswerkplaats) ‘Organisations in a Smart City’, which is being set up in collaboration with the municipality of Rotterdam. The post-doctoral researcher will support the new chair and the steering committee. Organisational dynamics in the digital society is a multi/interdisciplinary field in which we study, from a psychology, sociology, and public administration perspective, the blurring of organisational boundaries which includes the rise of smaller organisations, (semi-)selfemployment, bottom-up proactive employee work behaviors, network organizations, and the digital/platform economy.
Activities
Your tasks will consist of:
Reading and reviewing the relevant literature to improve our knowledge of the field of organisational dynamics in the digital society;
Setting up and coordinating the ESSB panel to study the impact of new organisational forms on workers with different employment status (about 0,3 fte);
Coordinating the new Kenniswerkplaats ‘Organisations in a Smart City’, including actively looking for and engaging new partners (about 0,25 fte);
Supporting the new chair and the steering group of the strategic pillar (organising meetings, providing information, updating the website, and so forth);
Setting up joint research projects with the new chair, members of the steering group, and/or other researchers involved in the pillar;
Writing scientific papers for peer-reviewed journals within the field;
Presenting at national and international scientific (and non-scientific) conferences;
Writing grant applications for future projects.
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a highly motivated scholar with:
A PhD in a relevant field (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Public Administration or related field);
Strong affinity and experience with multi-disciplinary research;
Excellent research and methodological skills;
Experience with and knowledge of quantitative data collection, particularly panelresearch;
Good academic writing and presentation skills;
Excellent communication, social, and organisational skills;
Working proficiency in both Dutch and English (at a minimum level of C1, according to the Common European Framework), both oral and written.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Your initial employment term will be for one year (with a two months trial period), and will be extended by one more year if your performance proves satisfactory. Employment starts preferably no later than March 1st 2019.
Salary is subject to know-how and experience and corresponds to scale 11 CAO NU, which is between € 3.637 and € 4.978 gross per month on a full-time basis (38 hour per week; 1.0 fte).
Candidates who have recently obtained their PhD and have no previous postdoc experience start at the beginning of the scale.

DEPARTMENT
The Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences is home to a vast diversity of scientific disciplines: public administration, pedagogical sciences, psychology and sociology. In addition, the Erasmus University College, IHS, and two research institutes RISBO and DRIFT are linked to the faculty.
